Every since I first saw Inky I wanted to give it a try.
I mean, seriously, Inky has got to be the cutest email icon every created.
But setting cuteness aside and getting serious about seriously using your email, is Inky worth a try? Or is he just an awesome icon wrapped in a beautifully designed UI?
Let me tell you about my experience using Inky and why you should give it a try.
Inky — An Email App for All Your Email
First, let me say, that Inky is available for Mac, Windows and iOS. So if you’re cruising on one of these good ships, you should have no problem sailing with this guy:
If you have multiple email accounts, Inky will bring them all together in one place. Keep in mind, that even if you’re using one email address, Inky is still really cool.
Here’s a look of some of Inky’s top features:
Smart Views — This is where Inky really shines through. He looks all cute and awesome, but he’s got some power in this area.
“Focus on mail from personal contacts without the distraction of social notifications, daily deals, and other newsletters. Inky automatically categorizes your incoming mail so you don’t have to.”
I really liked this feature. All those newsletters and notifications get pushed to the back and out of your face. Basically, Inky sorts your email and figures out what you should be dealing with first and formost. You can cruise through those newsletters and social notifications later!
Here’s how this ‘curated view’ of your filtered inbox breaks down:
- Personal
- Newsletters
- Daily Deals
- Social
- Notes
- Package Tracking
- Maps
Relevance Sorting — Again, we see that Inky is a smart email app:
“Inky’s unique relevance sorting lets you read messages in order of importance. Email messages from close contacts have a vibrant blue drop and rise to the top of your message list. Less important mail and spam messages appear faded and sink to the bottom.”
Cloud Enabled — I love that Inky is in the cloud. All those accounts you add and options you choose will be remembered when you install Inky again and enter your Inky username and password.
Additional Features:
- IMAP and POP Support
- Unified Interface
- Easy Account Discovery
- Smart Sending
- More!

My Experience
I really wanted to stick with Inky. I really wanted to love it. My email has been commanding me around, lately, and I was hoping that Inky would be the solution. I wanted the ability to easily plow through my email.
I want to stop hating email!
Inky’s interface is wonderful and there were so many different things I loved about it, but it didn’t work for me. I am a control freak with my email. I want to command it. So, letting Inky organize my email, sort it and make decisions for me, didn’t work for me.
My Conclusion
Inky is an excellent email app and is probably the next favorite email app for many of you. I highly recommend you give it a try. It is well designed, has some really cool features you won’t find with other email apps, and it’s free!
Download Inky. It’s awesome.

Hey Eric, have you tried Mailbird? It’s pretty cool – I use it as a Gmail client and it’s saved me so much time.
