Never underestimate the power of sound.
One of the first days of taking video production class back in college, we learned about the importance of sound. It seemed silly as a naive college student learning the ropes of mass media. Why are we learning about sound in a video production class?
Here’s probably the most #EPIC example:
Doesn’t seem silly anymore, does it?
As a sound guy it’s easy for me to love and appreciate the power of sound design. I often get frustrated with videographers who are so obsessed with getting ‘just the right shot’ and tweaking their color correction that they ignore the other half of what they are suppose to be producing. Video production is not only video. Video production is the art of weaving the two together, and unless you can grasp this concept, you’ll never reach your full potential with your craft.
As a video editor or producer, do you spend enough time finessing your audio?
If you’re not sure or want to be wholly honest with yourself, ask an audio geek to critique your work, and then you’ll know for sure.
