Yesterday, we wrote about how social media and SEO should be used hand-in-hand. Today, we are going to look at a couple of things that need to happen to achieve this.
Use Effective Keywords In Social Media
All search engines like Google and Bing use keywords as the initial ranking for their websites. If you never talk about football, then when someone searches “football scandal”, your website will never come up. There are some great tools like out there to find out what keywords are being searched well that you might want to use. One of the best keyword tools out there is Google Adwords Keyword Tool. You can start by inputting a couple of keywords that someone might use to find your content. Then the tool will show you an estimated amount of monthly people who search for those keywords. The words that you find to be the most proficiently searched for will now need to go not only in the body of your content, but must be the foundation of the titles of your articles, webpages, and social media posts/updates.
Create A Clear And Complete Brand
While it is beyond the scope of this article to cover how to make a clear and complete brand, we can offer the basics. Make sure you have a productive and consistent presence on social media markets that will benefit you. If you are unsure where to start, at least be present on Twitter, Facebook, and Google Plus. The key part of this is productive and consistent, as a presence on social media that is not can actually hurt you more than not having one at all. At the same time, make sure that you are clear on all different locations. If you use a logo on your website, use that same one on all social media locations as well as using the same name and description everywhere.
Measure Your Goals
If you hope to increase your search engine results and rankings, you need to make sure you are measuring what is happening to know if what you are doing is working. There are an endless number of SEO tools to find out where traffic is coming from (be it social media or search engines) as well as what people were looking for when they found your link. Graph (manually or with analytical tools like Google Analytics) to track long term statistics to modify your plan.
