I’m not here to tell you about information privacy for you as an individual. If you are concerned about this, you shouldn’t be learning about it from an infographic and blog article, you should be getting some thorough education on the subject. But this is for your ministry, to not only protect your church, but also for the congregation members. Think of these posts from the idea of parents bringing their children who may be in a custody battle, someone with criminal tendencies, or any other concerns.
Here are the three top security points from the infographic below:
- What can you get from your Facebook page? Where you are currently at (location security), pictures of your children (catfish), political leanings (spam), relationship status (stalking).
- Instagram, location of where most of your pictures are at and if you upload from the event, location security.
- Google+ shows off phone numbers and emails (spam and mobile security), locations and events (location security), and post locations.
What are you doing to protect your ministry and congregation’s digital information?

Very eye-opening.
Does anybody else have thoughts of forsaking the screens and living in a tangible world?
Jeremy Smith says
Thoughts? Yes. But then I jump back into reality.
Steven Gliebe says
Did you mean virtual reality?
Jeremy Smith says
No, I mean I couldn’t do blogging with churchmag, minecraft, or do work without it.
Steven Gliebe says
True, very true!

Remember when the worse thing besides gossip you could do on social media was publicly post you’re going on vacation? Wow, the times are rapidly changing!

I think that the these risks have always been there when the new “features” come online. The problem is that the dark parts of the internet are becoming more and more sophisticated.
Eric Dye says
Indeed. Very eye opening. Interesting about the photo data!
Jeremy Smith says
Creepy, right?
