I’ve been an Evernote user for quite a while, as I’m sure many of you are as well.
This post was drafted in Evernote, and it will also stay here so I can come back to it and reference it in the future. As a college student, Evernote has proved to be a valuable resource in many different ways.
One of the first things I do when a new semester begins is create a notebook for each of my classes. That way I have a place to store syllabi and other important information regarding each class. I also clip my schedule into a “General” school notebook so I have easy access in case I need to double check a time or meeting place.
Another major way I use Evernote for college is for research. There are many times when papers or speeches require quite a bit of research, and by using Evernote’s clipping feature, all of this research is easily organized. Text in documents or images is made searchable, and tags allow me to find what I’m looking for quickly.
As a college student, keeping track of restaurant’s hours, or even grocery lists is important. Evernote helps me do both of those with ease since I can snap a picture and create a note.
One of the features that keeps me with Evernote is how great all of their apps on different platforms are. Whether I’m at my Mac, out and about with my iPhone, or at a different computer on their website, the experience is very similar, and allows me to find what I’m looking for, or add what I’m trying to.
How does your Evernote usage look? Do you have any suggestions for me on how to better utilize the tool?

I love Evernote as well and I wish they had it when I was in college! I would have done exactly what you’re doing. I use it across multiple platforms as well. Love taking notes on it during meetings. I am just starting to get into the habit of drafting blog posts in it and I can see that being very useful in the future.
Good stuff!

Thanks Graham! Talking Evernote strategy is something I love doing, so I thought this would be a great way to get the discussion going. Thanks for your input!

Yea I should probably do this 😉
I use a simpler setup with SimpleNote for iPad and Notational Velocity for Mac.
It is basically like having a database driven text edit that syncs across both platforms. Evernote would definitely work better, but it’s enough for me at the moment.

I’ve tried SimpleNote, but just keep coming back to Evernote for some reason. You’ve gotta go with what works for you though.

I use Springpad. I personally like it better than Evernote, but I know some people who don’t think so. 🙂

Yeah, I guess Evernote was just the first thing I tried, so I’ve stuck with it.

I’m a huge Evernote fan. I currently use it for creating my Wishlists, Bucket List, Movies to Watch, Books to Read, and even promo codes I find online. After reading this article and the comments, I started looking into SpringPad. It seems really nice as well especially the categories part. For more information about the difference I found this link http://www.40tech.com/2010/04/20/springpad-vs-evernote-it-might-be-better/
I might get an iPad 2 later on so I’ll definitely be interested to learn which can help me out.

Thanks for the link Erico, I’ll add that link to Instapaper, it looks really interesting.
