As a counselor, I love to find creative and unique ways to help people relax, address anxiety and depressive symptoms in their lives, and be able to handle the difficult things that come their way.
One way that is new people, and uses a tech angle, is to use apps on your phone. As Christians, we talk about meditation as a time to pray, read Scripture, and even practice the art of Silencio from the Catholic Church where you sit in quiet in order to hear the voice of God.
But in a busy and noisy tech world, that’s not easy.
Imagine using your phone to learn to improve your mental health, spiritual life, and meditate more?
Headspace is an application for iOS and Android that helps someone completely new to meditation or an instrument for those who are well practiced. Here’s a video on why this is important.

Here is their website if you’d like to see more, try it out, or even see the science that goes into mindfulness. (I use mindfulness every day in my profession and think it is something every person needs to know.)
There are three different tiers to their app and services:
- Free: This offers ten basic sessions, one session from each series they offer, and three sessions a day to practice up to ten minutes of Headspace mindfulness.
- Monthly Subscription: This gives access to all of their series and training to improve your stress reduction. At $12.99 a month ( or $7.99 if you pay for a whole year), it can give you more features.
- Headspace + Spotify Premium Bundle: I can’t find a cost (their website isn’t easy to navigate), but you can actually get a combined Headspace and Spotify subscription to use Headspace in Spotify as well as a normal Spotify subscription.
Curious if anyone uses any applications to help themselves meditate and improve their mental health and spiritual life?
