Introducing, Google Wallet.
Google Wallet is still in the “coming soon” stage of things, but looking at the details so far, it looks like banking will be making another dynamic change at the check-out.
Google Wallet will transform your smartphone into your wallet.
Forget bank cards, credit cards and the likes. You already have a smartphone, it’s always with you, your almost always connected to the internet, why not?
Brilliant?
I think so.
Google Wallet will be quick and easy. Just about as easy as swiping your card at the store. Tap it, and you’re done.
Google is also teasing us with saving money, too. Google Offers will automatically sync with your Google Wallet, offering you all kinds of savings.
Look, Google is about ads. That’s how they offer all these tools for free. They make their money by being the best at placing ads, and now they are beginning to take that same approach, that same success, and applying it to the real world.
Can you image the tools that could follow this?
Imagine this:
You use your cookbook app to plan a week of meals. It automatically creates a shopping list. As you’re shopping, you scan each item. It automatically marks it off your list. You don’t normally have steak twice a week, but when you were planning out your meals, Google Offers gave you a coupon. As you make your way around to the next isle, there is an end-cap of Coke with a QR code, you scan it, and see that if you get two 2-liters of Coke products and a bag of Lays, you’ll get your second 2-liter for free!
Before you know it, you’re ready for the checkout.
Shopping just got easier, and Google knows your buying habits. Next week, they’ll be able to promote, advertise and yield coupons to you better than before.
We don’t know all the details, yet, and this was only a fictitious experience. However, you can see this has some great potential.
