We had an opportunity to briefly discuss Google One Today app, which allows listed charities and other non-profit organizations to be highlighted and receive donations from people. It required an invite to be used, but once the invite was accepted, it worked well. The app has a clean interface, notifications and gives good information about the listed projects.
Now, the invite process has been scrapped, and anyone Stateside can download the app from the Google Play Store and use it to make donations. The app highlights a different charity each day, and allows folks to donate $1 or more to the charity. The app also has Google+ functionality.
It doesn’t seem that too much has changed with regards to the way non-profits can get registered, so there is still an opportunity to do that as well for parties that are interested in becoming a part of it.
All in all, I think One Today remains a vital — if probably a bit understated — option for those looking to make a difference, $1 or more at a time.
