Well, not exactly.
But, He sure worked up a decent mock-up:
Demand for a striking blue and red lizard has surged among comic fans thanks to its uncanny resemblance to Spiderman.
Pet shops specialising in exotic animals have reported a surge in popularity for the Mwanza Flat Headed Agama lizard, which is native to Africa.
Karen Baker, of amphibian and reptile specialist store Exotic-pets.co.uk, said that the lizards, which live for up to 15 years, had currently sold out.
Awesome.

Ok… what was the point of that post ? …
This ‘marvel mania’ that’s going on with the 30-40′ something christians boys only shows me that many “30-40 yo kids” still need to get ouf of the peter pan complex and become men…
I’m glad my father was not playing all day long with spiderman and batman when I was a kid… Not sure how bad it would have affected me…
I think there’s a pretty big difference between watching a Marvel movie in theatres or DVD once in a while, and talking and talking and talking every day about spiderman…
Seriously..
It’s not because the creative guys in Marketing agencies play all day long with spiderman toys, while sniffing coke and dope to be creative, that we should do the same.. or promote Marvel stuff….
Dont you even still realize those things are not coming from renews minds, but most are really perverted people creating imaginary things from dark sources of creativity….
It’s incredible how this blog cant seem to make any difference…
Wake up guys..
There’s a comment with an interesting response on CATALYST facebook wall :
“20 something’s are leaving the church not because of our THEOLOGY, it’s because of our CULTURE. –Andy Stanley #cat1day”
and the interesting response is :
” We have become so “relevant” that we are irrelevant–in my opinion.”
This is exactly this… Ye know, people dont go to church or christian fellowships to talk and learn about spiderman.. Seriously…
We dont need church people to make websites to talk about spiderman if you need to learn about spiderman…
The World do that better then you…
Open your eyes seriously….
Im my opinon, the church is trying to look so “relevant” and so “cool” that people are totally missing the point…
No one cares about a christian site talking about spiderman.. ***Free HINT***
Let the world be the world…
and let the church be the church…
Beeing what we are really called to be, what is really in our ADN is what it’s all about, not trying to merely copy or look cool ..
Spiderman, guys.. gimme a break..
John Saddington says
#LOL
wait… you’re serious?
Tim Graves says
Hi. I care about a Christian site talking about Spiderman.
*FREE HINT* God gave all of us the capacity to create, and the ability to appreciate the creations of others. He also gave most of us something called a sense of humor, and the ability to play and relax.
Life isn’t all work, all the time.

True story.
Jared Erickson says
We will make sure to cover some of Gods creations that resemble batman and superman so we don’t look biased to marvel next time 🙂
Eric Dye says
I’ll start looking, now.
James Cooper says
Alex, surely this post shows that man copied a design from God’s great creation because it’s so ‘amazing’.
I’m in my 30s and I like Spiderman – I also LOVE God and His creation. That fact that we can never design anything that God hasn’t already thought of is truly humbling. Perhaps someone who stumbles on this post might also have their eyes opened to the creator and that He made all things.
I also find it interesting that of the thousands of posts on this blog, you’ve only commented on two about comics. Articles posted around this one include the subjects of using facebook and iPhones for youth ministry, the state of the Christian publishing industry and reaching out to the now 7 billion people on the planet. You obviously have strong opinions, why not share some thoughts on other topics?
alex says
Thanks for the interest in my point of view.
Actually, i think i commented 3 or 4 times in all on churchcrunch, yup 2 times on comics but it was not planned. I come to this site maybe 2 or 3 times a month and it happened I saw those comics posts.
I dont think my points of view here on other topics maybe that much constructive, because im just in another “paradigm” that you guys are.
Im a tech guy, grew up in computers, wrote my first lines of code at the age of 9 yo back then when Apple 2 was the best of the best machine out there…
I had my own tech company with 15 employees, and Im just in another paradigm :
– I dont believe in “Church technologists” .. this word gives me pain in the stomach…
– I m against facebook. Totally. I think Facebook is one of the worst thing humanity has ever invented.
– Much of how i think about the digital age is found in Nicholas Carr books. I like this author.
– I dont believe in church marketing. In fact I dont believe in marketing the way our modern societies see marketing. Marketing as we know it is built essentially on things I dont find to be biblical = desire / lies (marketing is 80% lies. Fact : saying the truth about a product is a non sense in marketing ) / etc etc.
That’s why I dont believe that church marketing suck, but that church doing marketing suck.
– I dont believe in buzz over the internet.
– i dont believe in Ipad 2. I believe rather in paper books. Like i heard recently, “we christians are poeple of the book”. If we do nothing, our kids wont be “people of the book” anymor but “people of the screen”. It’s not ok with me.
etc etc 🙂
That’s why I sense that if I would participate here, on 90% of blog posts, I would be totally “against” what is beeing said. So i think it’s more wise that I do not participate here 🙂
I understand your way on churchmag and where you are trying to go. I dont say it’s bad or whatever, I just say i really live in “another paradigm”. 🙂
Well, Shane Hipps ( http://shanehipps.com/ has interesting point of views on tech subjects. I suggest digging into what he writes. Some things are worth reading.

So well put.

If rallying behind the idea that, “with great power comes great responsibility” is wrong… I don’t want to be right.
Chris Ames says
Also, it’s a little unnerving that you would decide to rant on this post, where Eric shifts the focus off Spiderman and redirects attention to one of God’s creatures.
alex says
@John Saddington yes i’m serious
guys, i’m in my 30 something, I have many friends/people I know both in the secural world and among christians brothers/sisters and seriously, in the secural world, people dont give attention at all to these marvel mania things.
People time is consumed by their work, family, their problems, etc etc.. they really dont give attention at all at these “children heroes” batman, spiderman, catwoman and I dont know what else…
Yes people go watch a spiderman movie and that’s about it…
Now, “some” christians friends I know are age 30 to 40 and for some reasons, it seems that some of them will not grow up.. and seems to me that they stay in some disconnected universe that really no one really care that much…
And some of that “disconnected universe” relates to these marvel things…
Really, I think it’s about growing up. It’s a universe for *kids* …. c’mon.
Not sure that Obama has a spiderman picture on his desk…
I hope not, at least… for your country..
It’s all about models, figures, leadership roles, etc… In my eyes many people in that generation, especially among christians, totally miss out
Again, there’s a pretty large gap between watching a spiderman movie, and writing posts about spiderman on a chritian large website. Def not the same thing..

I love when comments get fun and exciting 🙂
Hey Alex, I love that you are on fire dude. I really do. I think your fire is spewing in the wrong direction but…whatevs man.
I will say be careful about your word usage and stuff dude. This could very well air on the side of “passing your almighty judgment” dude and we both know that’s not where you want to be sitting ya know…you know…the peg…in your own eye…and all that jazz.
Anywho, glad you stopped by the site and I hope, if you are creative, you can glean some things from it, and enjoy it for what it is and the people that work to make this site 17,000+ strong. Like James said man if you get a chance you should post on things you actually enjoy. Remember post often and maybe with time, when you share your concerns; with bette word usage, then we can honestly and thoughtfully hear you out.
Right now I feel like the perception is that you are “that christian” who likes to point their finger at people so they can feel good about themselves. Now, I don’t think you are that way, I hope not at least, but the perception seems to be there currently.
Have a good one dude, and if you are creative, you should post some of your work by links or something dude. Would love to see it for sure.
alex says
Well, thanks, interesting.
Well i’m not pointing finger to people but to some things that are beeing done. I cannot imaging the church as people just saying “amen” and smiling to each others. I just cannot. Well, at least, Jesus did not behave that way.
He was rather harsh on many occasions.
The things I actually enjoy cant be really shared over the internet : i enjoy people arround me (irl), i enjoy working, I enjoy cooking, I enjoy my family, relationships, etc…. In real life im pretty fun, but when it comes to many things that are becoming “natural” to christians in this information age, I just raise my voice when I have the chance to do so, and my voice is definitly not going with the flow of what and where people are heading up when it comes to the subjects I mentioned above 🙂
Cheers:)
