I don’t know what it is, but there is just something about Summer that makes me feel like I can conquer the world.
Do you ever feel that way? You surely did as a kid, but how about now?
What changed between thirteen and thirty? Why can’t you go out and conquer like you did before?
Being an adult doesn’t mean that summer can’t be an amazing time of growth and change. Honestly, it probably has nothing to do with the season itself. It’s probably just the fact that June, July, and August are so indelibly marked as “special” in my midwestern American mind. In fact, you’re probably better equipped to truly tear through some tasks now than you were when you were as a kid.
I’m taking full advantage of these next few months. I’m going to read more, blog more, and even play more. This is going to be a Summer of hustle, but I think that rather than wearing me out, all of this added activity will truly energize and excite me as I head into the Fall.
So what are you going to do?
How many awesome ideas for websites or apps or blog posts have been sitting on your back burner?
It’s time to get busy.
Are you going to get “Summer Break Busy” and accomplish a lot before September?
As you take-on projects, let us know on Saturday Sunday Share!

I’m not on summer break (it is the middle of winter and freezing here) but I do have a bit of extra time to use while I’m hunting for a job. I’m aiming to use it to read a lot of books and to resurrect my somewhat stagnant blog. I’m also taking an Introduction to Sociology course through coursera.org to refresh what I learned at university. Coursera is pretty amazing. It provides courses in heaps of fields (including IT) for free. The courses have lectures, reading, discussion groups and tests.

That’s awesome—taking classes, not the job hunt. Though, if you are hunting or a job or want to really jumpstart your blog, might I suggest these two books: “Quitter” by Jon Acuff and “Platform” by Michael Hyatt. Good luck with your class. I’m thinking about taking a class myself, for my ministerial licensing.
Joanna says
Definitely good book suggestions. I’ve read Quitter (and found it very helpful). I’ve got Platform sitting on the to-read pile on my desk
Phil Schneider says
I’m going through Platform a chapter at a time, trying to slowly absorb the ideas. Did you get the bonus material as well?
Joanna says
Yes, got the bonus material but haven’t had a chance to look at it yet

I’m 18 days into the blogging for Church Video Summer School and about 7 in to the audio, and 5 into the video for it. I’m planning on releasing the whole thing once it’s done, but releasing each month as an ebook when it’s done. Hopefully, it will be a good resource for churches getting started in video.

This is awesome, Paul! You’ve got a great resource here. I’ll definitely be directing our A/V team to your site as we begin to look deeper into using video in our services.

Less juggling, increased focus, and more time with my kids at the beach!
Phil Schneider says
Sounds like a great plan! My daughter has just recently fallen in love with swimming, which I love to do to relax. Looks like we’ve found the perfect way to spend family time this summer.
