With the world focused on the amount of privacy controls an individual has (or hasn’t) it’s oftentimes good for body, mind, and soul to engage in an environment where there is no privacy by default.
I’m not against privacy controls generally speaking but I am against people acquiring an acute rash of tunnel vision that disables their ability to see the innovative ways that social engagement can occur via technological mediums and modes.
This one app his helping me breathe some of that “freedom” in again…
The Friends Around Me App is neat because once you install it and begin using it you quickly realize that there are pretty much zero restrictions on who can contact you, view your information, and chat. You can quickly and easily meet new people.
Sure, you can “hide” but then there’s no point in the mobile service (for both the iPhone and iPad) that searches around you for nearby friends, or new “friends” too. It combines Foursquare, Twitter, Facebook, and more and thankfully you don’t need to create a new login.

What do you think?
I like how it creates a culture where you knowingly opt-in to let the world know who you are (and where you are).
Sure, it might scare a few people but I think this app is on to something deliciously-healthy for us.

If YOU POST something online, don’t worry about privacy. I know a family friend who has ALWAYS been concerned about privacy. He only uses cash and has no bank account.
He took responsibility of his public information. Today’s world would do well to learn the same.
