Hah! It’s true and I know this all too well. But, the model of Open Source can be obviously monetized and turned into a thriving business. Here’s what it boils down to:
If you dissect the model, you’ll see that the one time effort of building something is something many software creators are willing to do for free. But the ongoing time and effort of supporting and maintaining the software is not something that can be done for free.
I still think the Church has a lot to say about “open source” and how she has natually played well in this arena.
