Now this is pretty cool.
At a Yo! Sushi location in London, patrons were greeted by the sight of levitating trays laden with food. The restaurant demoed remote controlled trays fitted with propellers and cameras that piped into an iPad for visuals.
A flying, robot waiter, if you will.

Yes, the controls do need a bit of work; a lot of good food was harmed in the clip above. I do wonder about the efficacy of such solutions at this time, say in a real busy restaurant. I’m probably being a tad myopic, but I suspect outside the initial novelty, it probably isn’t ready for prime-time. Plus, the establishment itself would probably still have to hire more cleaning staff till the controls got more refined.
There is talk about the chain deploying these company-wide.
It is hard to deny the creative aspect. Almost worth a trip to the location in and of itself, if local — which is what the proprietor most likely wants. Yo! Sushi is renown for pushing the food service technology envelope; I hope they stick with this.
And I want one of those trays.
