What was your first gaming system?
How about your favorite?
Technically the first gaming system around the house from when I was a kid, was the Intellivision.
However, the first video game system I had as a kid, was the NES. #goodtimes.
I remember when the Super Nintendo came out and blew all of our minds:

And the cycle continues from one generation of gaming systems to the next. 🙂
My favorite gaming system—right now—would probably be the Playstation 3. As much as I would like to call out a retro system, whenever I play them I am shocked with how bad they are in comparison—aside from the joy of reliving some cool memories.
Give me a few more years, and my favorite will probably change agian.
How about you?

I would have to say the SNES. Only because it was the first game system I got to play with my step dad, who is currently battling cancer. We played back and forth through The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past trying to get through it the quickest. He would play early in the am after his shift and I would play after school. The game had a battery issue so we would have to leave the SNES running. It was great. I think he beat it first, but only by a few hours. I was able to find most everything in the game and we still talk about it to this day.

After I posted my above comment. I would like to go back and say that now that I have daughters of my own and they like to game with me, the joys of raising gaming girls, I would like to say that I currently love love love the WiiU and Mario Kart 8. The girls love playing it together and with me, though I always win, but they enjoy the times together and the fun we are having.

I know what you mean. I’ve got my favorites from ‘back in the day,’ full of memories like you have—but love some of the newer stuff. Thanks for sharing, man. Very cool.

I still remember receiving an Atari 2600 as a present, and spending hours playing Pac-Man, Combat, and all the other classics (I even had the much-maligned “E.T.” cartridge!). Although, truth be told, my favorite game on the platform was “Empire Strikes Back”.
The only other system that I really enjoyed playing was the original NES– played Super Mario for HOURS.

Dude. Empire Strikes Back for the 2600 is a classic (http://youtu.be/Gy7glmlNMpg). 😀

The first system I owned was a NES which had a slew of games that were amazing at the time but don’t come close to my favorite system – SNES. There have been amazing games and gaming moments beyond the SNES era and a few before it, but there is something special about that time frame as a kid / tween / teen that allows video games to be magical and immersive in a way that is rare for any other age.

Dude. ALL of this. I know exactly what you mean.

My first game system was the NES. I loved staying up late playing games.
Favorite would have to be a tie with Xbox 360 and Wii. Odd, right? No. lol Xbox 360 has/had great graphics and online play. The Wii, I get to play games with my kids! I even have old skool Mario Bros on it.

I get it. 😉
