RAHAB was Rob McLellan’s entry in to the “Enter The Pitch” competition which encourages film makers to submit a film pitch idea with the prize of £25,00.
As the name suggests it is a spin off of the story of the biblical character Rahab in the book of Joshua. It is beautiful, and captivating but it seems to stand alone as quite an ambiguous story leaving people asking what its about and what the history is. It leaves out some large sections of the original story and seems to glorify Rahab and her situation rather than God but I still love that the story is based on a biblical character.

I don’t know where McLellan stands on grounds of faith, but either way, the more I watch this film the more questions I have about it. I flip form thinking it’s incredibly clever to really wanting to hear more about what God was doing and maybe that’s the point. Maybe he wants us to question those things. Of course for non-churched people, this film will have an entirely different set of questions and I wonder if they will even realise that there is a Holy spine to the narrative that is left unspoken.
What does it make you ask?
