I’m a slave to my calendar. So I’m always looking for ways to manage it better and be more efficient in my use.
The app that has become my go to for my calendar is Fantastical. Now I’m a typical native user. So for an app to pull me away from my iPhone or Mac’s built in calendar, it’s really got to be something. And Fantastical is.
What I like about this app is it’s ease of use.
Fantastical
First, when you download Fantastical from either the AppStore or Fantastical’s website, the app automatically finds your calendars and imports that’s that information.
Secondly, I like the intuitive nature of the app for entering appointments. Now I believe Apple wanted to do this with the native Calendar app, but it doesn’t work nearly as easy.
To enter an appointment, I open the app with a keyboard shortcut (another fav) on my desktop, enter “Write Blog for ChurchMag on Monday at 9:30” and the appointment will appear on the calendar just like that. The iPhone app works the same way.
Thirdly, the way Fantastical works is the app is open in your Mac’s menu bar. That helps the user see the app whether you have a browser open, email or another other app open.
If you’re like me, making changes to your workflow is hard. But I have to say, Fantastical was a change I’m glad I made. Both the desktop and iPhone app are worth the investment for the time you’ll safe enter appointments.

So I tried Fantastical a while back on my phone, but it didn’t play nice with adding people to events… has that improved?

Hey Patrick. Thanks for the comment. I haven’t had any problems adding people to events, but I must confess most of my appointment scheduling happens on my desktop. The couple of times I have done it on my phone, it has worked fine.

Love fantastical. My only complaint is that I can’t seem to get it to play nice with some google calendar feeds. But other than that it is great
