It’s tough being King.
Ask Facebook.
The social media giant all but neutralized Myspace, and, in the nature of 21st-century enterprise, has found out it is almost easier to be the underdog.
Faced with challenges from Apple and Google in recent months (iMessage and Google+), Facebook has launched a new player in the mobile messaging client wars: Facebook Messenger, available on Android and iOS.
Facebook Messenger is a standalone messaging app that allows for people to communicate, on the go, with Facebook contacts. While chat is built into both Android and iOS clients, this new client may appeal to people who use the chat function heavily. With this, Facebook is making it clear they want you to stay in their developing ecosystem.

I’ve been loving it lately. I could see Facebook using it as a strategy to grow their reach even further. Really acts as a text messaging service between anyone on Facebook (which is everyone) and my phone.
