Social media is still young in its lifespan and while critics are saying that it is halfway through its life or going to rapidly decline soon, my belief is that it is here to stay. One indication of that is Facebook with its VAST platform that is growing and adapting all the time. One such case is the explosion of use on mobile devices and their ability to monetize it so easily and gather data from apps like Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, and others. They are a giant online and if you have a Facebook page for your church, you need to understand how mobile will impact your presence and how you can be proactive.
Here are some stats to keep in mine when creating content that should include mobile devices:
- 79% of the over 1.01 billion monthly active users access it on their mobile device. That means they are using a screen smaller than 10 inches and is a touch screen.
- Over 60% of sharing on Facebook happens via a mobile device. So if you want them to share a video, image, or webpage, you BETTER make sure it is friendly on 5 inch devices too.
- Nearly 1 trillion hours of time was spent on Facebook mobile apps. What if you included your church’s phone number, an SMS dedicated number, or other ways for people to get into contact with you via social media? Instantly improve connection points because they have it right there on their phone.
Are you taking mobile seriously enough?
