I love Sci-Fi and find dystopian stories to be far more fascinating. As a Christian, I believe that mankind is inherently evil, so it only makes sense to me that futuristic societies would be anything but utopian.
In the infographic, below, we take a closer look at face recognition, something that is often used in Sci-Fi and has been something of a concern of mine with the development of Google Glass.
Here’s a closer look at the high-points:
- Google currently bans facial recognition apps due to privacy protection issues.
- Humans are only 1% better at photo tagging than Facebook’s facial recognition software—Deepface.
- Apple has a patent using facial recognition.
These anti-facial recognition haircuts are really interesting, too!
Creepy or cool?

It’s not that widely known that facial recognition technology was first widely adopted (and vastly improved) in the gambling industry. Casinos in Vegas (and the like) have used it for years to keep track of who’s going in what casinos and winning/losing what and when. So if they think there’s cheating going on, a red flag for a face (or faces) would go to all the casinos so people could be stopped at the door!
Then governments realised how useful it might be as well…
