I’ve often wondered how some photographers I follow on Instagram get their photos taken from their high-end cameras onto the photo sharing social network. Sure, you can download your photos, upload them to your smartphone, and then publish them on Instagram, but that’s a lot of steps! And considering the frequency that some publish, it would seem as though they were publishing straight from their Nikon or Canon.
Now I know their secret.
And it is awesome.
Eyefi
It’s called Eyefi, and here’s how it works. Purchase an Eyefi SD card and do as follows:
Sweet!
The Eyefi SD card is a direct link to your smartphone and tablet. After taking a round of photos with an awesome camera, simply pull-up your favorite social media app and upload a photo via Eyefi. It works great for previewing your photos, too.
So. Flippin’. Cool.
And Eyefi isn’t cost prohibitive. You can get started with the introductory 8GB card for only $49.99 and it can take:
- 4,000 photos
- 3hrs of video
- And includes 90 days of Eyefli Cloud service.
The Eyefli Cloud service is nice. It works like iCloud, whereby it automatically uploads photos to the Eyefli Cloud. However, it’s not required when using it as a direct link between your camera and mobile device.
So there you have it. 🙂 If you’ve got an awesome camera collecting dust, consider getting yourself an Eyefi card.
