Have you ever thought of turning your iPhone into a baby monitor?
Evoz does just that. By using an iPhone to monitor your baby, there has never been a monitor this advanced. Some of the features are very clever.
With a second iOS, you can listen-in whenever you want. When your baby cries, Evoz sends smart alerts. It isn’t based on volume. Evoz developed an algorithm that can decipher between baby chatter and actual crying.
Sweet.
Before you think this is a poor-man’s babysitter and should only be used by neglectful parents, there are plenty of times this would be great to have.
- While working in the yard
Put your iPhone on vibrate, and you’ll be the first to know when Junior is awake. - Babysitter Backup
Face-it ladies. You’re a little nervous about leaving the baby with the babysitter while you go out with your hubby. With Evoz, you can set it to email, text message or call you when it detects crying for 30secs, 2-minutes, 5-minutes or 8-minutes. - Sleep Tracker
Evoz keeps a record of your baby’s crying and sleep data. Compare, monitor, make sure your little one is getting enough zzz’s. - Church Nurseries
This might be a good addition to a Church nursery. An extra eye is never a bad thing, and you could create a nursery back-up volunteer. After 5-minutes of crying, they receive a text message and head straight to the nursery as needed backup!
According to the Evoz website, they will releasing a dedicated monitor this upcoming September, so two iPhones will no longer be required.
You can give Evoz a full two-week trial for free from the Apple App Store.
Is this bad parenting or the ultimate baby monitor?

This sounds like a great idea! I would never leave my 5-month-old son alone at home, but this would be great to check up on him while he’s with the sitter. If I got an alert during dinner it would be easy for me to listen in or to call home and check up on Charlie. And it’s also convenient when I’m around the house because I already have my iPhone with me — no need to carry around the receiver anymore. Hopefully there will be a video feature soon.

Yes, indeed! I believe video is a feature you can utilize if you’re using two iPhones or their upcoming monitor add-on. A great concept!

The idea of an iPhone app that’s a baby monitor sounds really lame at first – until I read those features. That’s pretty awesome.

I was the same way. The more I learned about it, the more I was impressed.
