Almost four years ago, I reviewed Echo, a prayer app. I thought it would be helpful to an individual’s prayer life. But recently, Echo was updated to include a new feature that might actually be a huge help to a church’s prayer life.
Introducing Echo Feeds
I recently spent a month restructuring my church’s prayer chain. It was truly frustrating, but honestly, I should be thankful that it’s at least an email chain, as the median age of people on the chain is 55.
What I’d love to do is find a way to make the prayer chain mobile and more accessible to a generation of Christians who are prone to ignore email as a means of communication. Echo Feeds might be able to help with that. From Echo’s site, “Feeds replace old-school prayer chains and email lists. Share prayer requests instantly, and allow interaction and communication with those praying for your ministry!” Given that most millennials and younger are more mobile savvy, using an app to deepen your people’s commitment to prayer might be the best strategy you could adopt.
Here are some images from Echo’s site that might give you a better idea of how the app works:
Honestly, I think that youth groups and any ministry that trends younger or more technologically inclined should be downloading this app even before they’ve finished reading this post. A decline in individual and corporate prayer is plaguing the Western Church, and this is a reasonable solution to that problem. In fact, I’d consider this as part of your church’s New Year’s launch: help your people set and achieve a goal to pray more frequently in 2019.
To get started, download the Echo Prayer app for iOS and Android.

Thanks for sharing about the Echo prayer app. Hadn’t really looked at this before but am now inclined to check it out. BTW, if you are not familiar with the Mobile Ministry Forum, you may enjoy checking it out. The MMF is a global network that seeks to catalyze the Church to use mobile-related technologies and media to help fulfill the Great Commission. Learn more at http://www.MobileMinistryForum.org. Consider using #mobmin to spread news about anything related to the use of mobiles for ministry. Now, off to download Echo….
