A new patch available to Mac computers allows you to skip the opening previews on DVD movies, something that I’ve always found to be quite annoying.
Installation is a breeze and zero hassle; just boot up Terminal and copy and paste a line, and then you can enjoy saving yourself countless minutes so that you can right to the feature presentation!
But there’s something within me that makes me hesitate; is that a spiritual gut-check that I just felt? How do you feel about things like this? Trivial? Serious? Does it matter?

This is awesome, I thinks its unethical to put all of the previews there in the first place!!!

If I purchased the DVD, why can’t I use it how I want to use it? All these forced chapters do is aggravate honest consumers.
Viva la Handbrake.

I’m not saying I condone this behavior, but I have to agree with this graph: http://bit.ly/aEoiWu

and “agree” was a not the word I wanted, more of “I sympathize”

I think this is great. If people remember way back when the DVD isle at the electronic store wasn’t even a complete isle, most of those didn’t have previews before you got to the menu, the previews were just an option on the menu. And my favorites of those, when you put them in the drive the opening credits roll and you have to press the menu button, to you know, get to the menu.
I agree infinitely with the info-graphic that Brett linked to.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with it. I know what the FBI Warning, etc says, and I don’t plan to violate those regulations anyway. As far as the previews go, I couldn’t care less; my wife always enjoys watching them.
