I love my paper napkins (and food!).
I’ve found more inspiration while I’m eating for many of my projects and a paper napkin has saved me countless times when I’ve needed to diagram or sketch something out.
Perhaps I should upgrade to the iPad now that I own one?
I wasn’t sure which one to get until I saw Jared rock this design literally right in front of me:
Sweet!
A little while later Jared did one for the 8BIT Network‘s logo:
Jared was using SketchBook Pro by Autodesk and was handling it like a champ. It’s a few bucks, sure, but you can obviously do some pretty fantastic things with it – Jared’s designs above didn’t even scratch the surface (but still looked awesome)!

nice work! i love it. have sketchbook on my iphone, and will load in on my ipad when i get it (it’s in the mail). did you do all that with your finger or do you use a stylus (like a Pogo).
Jared Erickson says
thanks!
I did it all with my finger.. it’s pretty easy to get “sucked” into it.. its like adult fingerpainting.. only drawbacks.. even with a stylus like the pogo.. no pressure control.. and tilt control. like you would see using a Wacom tablet. it’s still pretty killer and easy to use.. and the ability to export to a native photoshop .psd is really nice!

That’s pretty sweet! May have to test it out when I get back to the U.S.

Thanks for the great review. You can check out some of my drawings and doodles done with SketchBook Pro uploaded to iPad Doodler: http://www.ipaddoodler.com/
I’ve tried most of the sketching/drawing/painting applications currently availabe for the iPad myself and found Sketch Book Pro to be by far the most competent and professional (the closest thing to a mobile version of a desktop Photoshop). Back in early 2010 I would never have believed that the iPad would become a part of my everyday graphic design work.
