Everyone here on ChurchMag is super busy. Seriously. Most of us have two or even three jobs, so it shouldn’t surprise you when I tell you that I’m a discipleship pastor.
It’s a part-time job, but I take it really seriously. The biggest part of my job is programming our Wednesday night classes, which I most often teach. But since I’m pretty technologically savvy, I also run our website, which is mostly maintenance. However, occasionally, I’ll find some time and try to move forward.
My latest venture was to create an online curriculum. We’re going about this in two ways: class audio and new video content. I’ll talk more about the audio later. That’s old hat. Right now, my passion is for the video.
Fortunately for me, one of the guys on staff at our church is a great videographer because of that has made it way easier! Here’s the YouTube playlist of the videos we’ve released for far, and here are a few particular videos that I could have done better.
Trying to do this with an arbitrary one-minute time limit. This won’t last long.

“Let’s tape on stage so that we’ll have continuity with the live stream.” “Should we turn on the stage lights?” “Nah! It’ll be fine.”

One in which I make a stupid face.

Get Started
These are just a few videos where I made mistakes ranging from how I did the video, where I did the video, and what I did in the video. I share all of this not to offer you better ideas now. Instead, I’m sharing these to motivate you to do better, which shouldn’t be difficult. I want to motivate you to begin creating content for your parishioners to learn from and then share with their friends.
We can talk all you want about the creation of internet churches, but I think that I’d first prefer to see some internet-empowered churches that use technology to connect Sunday to cyberspace. When we master that, then we can discuss a full-on digital transition. For now, let’s make sure that we are putting out content, in various medium, so that no one can ever say that your church didn’t do their best, didn’t try every avenue, to get Jesus’ message.
How do you develop an online curriculum: you get started.
That’s where I’m at. Where do I go from here? I’ll let you know.

We’ve been trying http://trainedup.church and I think it is going to be a great platform for us.

I’d looked at this before, and it’s really cool. We just wanted to start with something with no cost to gauge interest. Also, we’re not looking for training exactly here. More like supplemental teachings.
How long have you been using TrainedUp?
