Ever since She Must and Shall Go Free, my wife and I have been huge fans of Derek Webb (technically since Caedmon’s Call :P).
I reviewed his last album on ChurchMag and I couldn’t help doing the same, again!
That being said, you may consider my review bias as I am a fan, but considering we’re offering a free copy, I’m sure you’ll forgive me.
I Was Wrong, I’m Sorry & I Love You
Once again, Derek releases an album that has far more to do with its lyrical content than anything else. That’s the beauty of his music. While the sound is good, the lyrics are better.
In the past, Webb has released full acoustic versions of his songs, which I end-up preferring—LOL! Even still, I’ve really been enjoying I Was Wrong, I’m Sorry & I Love You for the past month or so.
If you’re curious about the statement, or title of the album (he always has a statement, right?), here’s a little explanation from Derek as well as an acoustic version of the headlining title:
Ah, yes. Good stuff.
The style of this album reminds me a little of ‘Ctrl’, so don’t expect anything completely out of the ordinary sound wise. Just the usual dynamic blend of modern sound, underlying acoustic guitar, with a few daring creative plunges that makes Derek’s sound unique.

My favs have been Mockingbird and Feedback. I would love to hear the new one. I usually don’t buy music anymore thanks to Spotify (which Derek is completely against). Anywho, thanks for the review and the post. I dig it!

I enjoyed Mockingbird and She Must and Shall go free. I realized yesterday that I hadn’t heard much of his other stuff and went looking on Spotify for the new album. It wasn’t there, perhaps that’s no surprise according to Paul’s comment above.
