Few pop artists really live up to that label “artist,” but Matthew Parker is one and Daydreamer proves it. The music is catchy, filled with all the hooks, loops, bleeps, and bloops that should be expected in 2018. And yet, it’s really good! Most of the time, when an album has “everything,” if often feels a bit bloated and overproduced. That’s not the case here. The music sounds hand-crafted if that’s even a thing anymore.
And the lyrics? Intricate without being needlessly complex. These are songs designed to make you think but not at the risk of their enjoyability. You’ll be able to blast this album and sing along. That’s no small thing, blending deep and meaningful lyrics that are actually fun to listen to and sing along with, but Parker has done it.

And let me just say that I love “Alice.” It’s deep, haunting, and just an all-around great song. I think you’ll love it, too.
Parker’s Daydreamer is a poppy but powerful album that you’ll be singing along to in no time.
