As much as I like Coda 2, if you’re trying to push your web developer skills past the edges of basic code editing, you’re going to need another tool on your app dock.
Considering the price and functionality of this new tool, CodeKit, you can hardly go wrong.
Like they say on their website,
“It’s like steroids for web developers.”
That’s not a statement of slick copywrite, it’s true.
CodeKit
You’re not going to find a slicker tool to process your Less, Sass, Sytlus, Jad, Haml, CoffeeScript, Javascript and Compass files every time you save. Make your edits in CodeKit — save — and then watch Safari animate into your change.
Slick. I’m a sucker for live browser reloads. Do you know how many mouse clicks you could save in a day?
Other awesome features include:
- Optimize Images
- Awesome Framework management
- Uses JSHint and JSLint for debugging
- Mash and minify your Javascript and CoffeeScript into one
- Sync projects with Team Collaboration options
- Online Video tutorials to launch you into CodeKit
You can download a free trial version, but if this tool sounds remotely helpful to you, be prepared to fork over an easy $25. Of course, if you really dig CodeKit after you’ve taken it around the block a few times, consider paying a little more.
After all, good apps are worth a few extra bucks.
Learn more, download and get your digital digits on this great app from the CodeKit website.

This is the single best tool added to my development toolbox in the past several months. Seriously consider shooting Brandon an extra $5 if you purchase it – would love to see this app’s development continue.
