I feel like this week has been a thorough process of cleaning and backing up my computer. It started with a look at my Time Machine that stated it had been 210 days since I last backed up my machine. Do you know how many hours of my life and job are probably contained within that 210 hours? In fact, I have been on a plane 3 times since I last updated my computer and at any time something could have just given out… irresponsible.
So, having taken care of that and backing up my terabyte laptop, I looked to see what else I could do.
Taking Out The Trash
I took a look at the trashcan and could not believe what was there. Over 260,000 files were stored in there. For those that know much about computers, just because you put it in the trashcan does not mean that you have free space. Having thrown those files away, I was given another 200GB freed up to use as I please.
Tidying Up The Blog
From there, I looked at my blog. In the past few months, I have decided to forego the solely youth ministry articles on this website. This requires a lot of back tracking and removing of articles. At the same time, I am implementing Standard’s Image post format to maximize Pinterest and visual elements of this blog and so many of the posts need to be switched over to the Image format from Standard. More time to invest in this blog. I am officially 20% done but have a lot to go.
Freeing Up The iPhone
Finally, my iPhone’s iCloud server space was full and I needed to clear some things out. 450 images later, I had enough space to last awhile. At the same time, I removed old podcasts I had listened to as well as playlists that were old and not being used any more.
My digital life seems to be a little more in order, but I am sure it will get cluttered very soon. What do you do to clean and backup your digital life?

When it comes to cleaning up my Macbook I like CleanMyMac. It’s a wonderful app. Sometimes when you remove apps from your computer it doesn’t totally remove all files, but this is where CleanMyMac works like a champ. It removes cache files, preferences, and hidden files. It’s great!
