I love the idea of several Christian-oriented nerds discussing in a very informal setting tech of some sort that may be beneficial for churches, bloggers, missionaries, and any other kind of ministry out there.
Our next hangout will be April 6 at 10AM EST.
This hangout we talk about how churches can use technology to communicate with the masses and individuals.

I’ve been waiting for this one to hit the ChurchMag stream cause I was eager to comment on it. I agree it’s certainly an interesting issue with so many options, but like what was said, we do have to go to them. Because of this, I mentioned automating much of this to Jeremy and he raised a good point: “We don’t want to be fake or spammy.” But I think there’s something really important to remember here…
The number one thing everyone wants (everyone like us who runs a ministry or a website especially) is interaction with them! So, like what was said in the video, choose a main platform to focus on, sure, but then make sure you get your posts sent out to all the others as well (with a personal note even on the automated ones). THEN, the most important thing is to just set apart time in the week to go to other people’s profiles, pages, websites, etc. and interact with them in a meaningful way! Even if you only get a fraction of your audience, that’s better than none. I use lists (every platform has them) to keep people bundled up for me to interact with them.
I think this is so huge because, as I observe other website and ministry owners and operators, I see very little of this going on. It’s like we all want everyone to love what we’re doing but we have SO LITTLE time for anyone else and what they enjoy or are passionate about. That’s just silly. I can’t expect it from others if I don’t do it myself.
I think this is key to good ministry. Good blog operating. Good people loving. And just generally a good human practice. Take interest in what others are doing and you’ll never be thought of as spammy even if you do put out a few links a day.
There… that’s all for my mini blog. Good topic and good advice guys! 🙂
