How can we make church websites more engaging? How can web based tools be more effective and efficient? What’s slowing down and holding back churches online?
I’m a UK based Computer Science student, wanting to help churches who sometimes don’t know how they can be helped. I’ve seen situations where people are burdened with administration tasks that a computer can do much better but they were unaware that there are solutions out there.
Often game changing ideas don’t come out of thin air but as a solution to the problem. I am in the process of putting together a survey to collect information on how we use church websites and give developers, content makers, church leaders the basis on which we can build better things for our churches. It’s to help uncover problems, so that people can help solve them.
It’s the same for many developers and web designers. As soon as I started to get the word out there about the Church Website Survey, others started to get on board, wanting to contribute their own questions and ideas.
I’m so excited to see what answers we get from the 2013 church website survey. I’m hoping people from all over the world take part and help to inform us about their experiences.
So who can see the results?
Everyone. We will publish the results after the survey is complete so everyone can benefit from it. The results might interest you because it tells you how many students check Facebook for updates on Christian Union activities. Or if your church website is as effective as others of a similar size. Or how we can use websites for effective mission.
Ok great, give me the survey!
At the moment we are still building it. Check http://cws.site11.com and follow us on Twitter for updates @ChurchWebSurvey. We will post here again on ChurchMag when the survey is live and afterwards with a follow up about the results.
I would get excited if I were you.
We can make something incredibly useful and be a part of helping develop our churches online!
