Chris Tomlin has appropriately been dubbed as the most sung artist on the planet by CNN.
Nope, not Beyonce, Katy Perry, or even Justin Bieber.
For Christian music lovers, this was a huge milestone in Christian music. Chris Tomlin is a household name as every given Sunday in the U.S about 60,000 – 120,000 churches are singing one of Tomlin’s songs.
Chris Tomlin has been delivering hit after hit, classic after classic, and on his latest effort he continues to soar. His new album titled “Love Ran Red” promises to be epic.
Love Ran Red
“Love Ran Red” will be dropping on the 27th of October, 2014 and it features infectious vertical worship tunes. Three songs from this album were debuted during this year’s Passion Conference event and appeared on the “Passion: Take It All” album. Songs like the title track “At The Cross [Love Ran Red],” “Almighty,” and “Let It Be Jesus” are already known anthems thanks to the Passion album. Although Tomlin however gives a welcoming studio take on them.
“At The Cross [Love Ran Red]” to me is one of the highlighting moments on the album. This song paints a picture of the sacrifice Jesus rendered on the cross as another reason for us to surrender to Him. His gift of salvation which he paid for with his blood….
“At the cross
At the cross
I surrender my life.
I’m in awe of You
I’m in awe of You
Where Your love ran red
and my sin washed white.
I owe all to You
I owe all to You Jesus.”
The project’s first single “Waterfall” is also graphical as it depicts God’s love as a waterfall. Immediately I heard the lyrics “your love is like a waterfall running wild and free…. Your love is like a waterfall raining down on me” I just had this beautiful imagery of a waterfall in all its glory and purity rushing down a cliff. I believe Tomlin achieved what he set out to do with this worship tune.

“Jesus Loves Me” the second single off the album. It is a soulful declaration and reiteration of Jesus’ love. Tomlin vocals are both passionate and flawless. No matter how lost a soul is Jesus’ love remains, and this song is just a reminder of that truth.

“Roar“ and “Boundary Lines” are so contemporary and modern that Christian radio stations will eat this up! You know what is going on with For Kings and Country’s ‘Fix My Eyes?” Those steady and heavy radio rotation? Well, if these songs become singles the will enjoy such radio plays. Not forgetting, that the message in the tunes is as meaningful and profound as any other Tomlin song.
“Love Ran Red” like most of Tomlin’s albums is cohesive in nature allowing listeners to enjoy the vibe, sound, and message while worshipping God be it in an intimate setting or in the middle of a 10,000 arena venue with other worshipers.
The album houses tons of tunes which fans of Tomlin will like. While this album doesn’t bring anything groundbreakingly new to Christian music, it is a classic Tomlin album. So if you love Chris Tomlin’s previous works then you will love “Love Ran Red.”
This is one album you must get to add to your Chris Tomlin discography or to your Christian music collection.
Tomlin live concerts is about to get even more interesting, and we have this album to applaud for that.
