As many of you may know, my creative background very much stems from my involvement in street art and graffiti as a teenager. For a number of years, I was involved in this illegally, something of which I am not proud of at all.
I had a real change of heart in my late teens after a trip to Hawaii to work with a Christian surfers organization called Surfing The Nations. Out there, I found that a lot of the guys working with Surfing The Nations were serious semi-professional surfers. They were fully involved and respected within surf culture, but didn’t compromise their faith in Jesus by getting involved in the sinful areas of the culture.
After I got back from the trip to Hawaii, I decided to focus my creative efforts on encouraging creative people, whatever their creative medium, to not compromise their faith, but to use their gifts to glorify God.
In doing that, there was one man in particular who literally inspired and encouraged me more than anyone else, and to this day, is a huge inspiration in my life.
Chef Camer1
The person who I am talking about is a guy called Cameron Moberg, although mostly you will hear him referred to as Chef Camer1. The first time I ever had contact with Cameron was when I emailed him about his graffiti crew, “Gospel Graffiti“. I was so excited about what Gospel Graffiti were doing. It’s a group of awesome graffiti artists who have all vowed not to paint illegally, but only legally for the glory of God.
As I got to know Cameron through speaking to him online and over the phone, I got to find out that this guy was one of the most talented and prolific graffiti artists that I knew, and yet he didn’t ever paint illegally. At the time, I found this both staggering and absolutely amazing.
Over time I came to realize that Cameron was not only prolific when it came to his graffiti art, but that actually he wore many hats including being a rapper, music producer, youth pastor, worship pastor, preaching pastor, husband and father.
How he manages to do all of the above to the high standard that he does I really don’t know, but I guess it just must be a God thing!
The Albums
Just recently, Cameron has released two albums, which are, as far as I am concerned, his best work yet! I find it so inspiring when Christian creatives produce awesome work which both honours God and seriously rivals the quality of what the world has to offer. I firmly believe that as Christians we should be on the cutting edge of creativity, that is what 8BIT is all about!
The two albums that Cameron has recently released are not only awesome, but completely free to download. I definitely recommend checking them out. Info is as follows:
Audio Motel
The album titled Audio Motel is a collaboration between Chef Camer1 and Hip-Hop producer Error 96. It is probably the most awesome work I have heard from Cameron, and the title track, Audio Motel has an awesome music video.
In fact, that is one of the things that I particularly want to highlight, as, even if this is not your style of music, the video could certainly fuel you with some creative inspiration, check it out below:

Music is My Silence
Music is My Silence is Chef Camer1’s latest solo album.
Cameron said to me that he wanted to give it away free because he wanted the freedom to rap and sing about the things that were really on his heart and mind.
It truly is an awesome listen, I highly recommend it.
Music is My Silence is also available for free at the War Tour Hip-Hop website.
