Automattic has done an excellent job providing client-side applications to cover the basic functionality required to administer your WordPress blog remotely.
I received my new HTC Incredible this past week and my first task was to download and install all of my core apps, or rather the Android versions of the core apps I used on my Blackberry Tour.
Naturally, the Android WordPress app is in this list for me.
A quick scan of features reveals all the basics. Most important for a mobile user is comment moderation. It’s not likely that many of us will be blogging from our mobile devices, but comment moderation is a necessary, daily task around here and being able to do it when I’m separated from my computer, and find myself with spare time, is killer.
Next on my list of must-haves is editing published posts. Typos and copy-edit flub-ups are going happen. Being able to make corrections on-the-go is necessary, and the Android WordPress app delivers in this area.
So far I’m very pleased with it. Check out this video of it in the “wild”:

[Note: Chris blogged this entire thing via the mobile app!]

Nice, I still haven’t d/l this yet for my DInc. I’m not one for mobile blogging in that capacity, but I forgot you could use this for comment moderation. I had been just using my WP admin page from the mobile browser; which isn’t as ‘mobile ready’ as the app.

Other advantages I noticed right off… it adds WordPress to the “share” list. So I can take a video or photo and then select the “Share” context menu item and it will give me the usual suspects such as SMS, GMail, FaceBok, etc… but now WordPress is also in the list and I can share a photo straight into a new blog post.

This is an awesome app. I’ve been using it on my Droid Eris without any problems. Love it!

Have you been able to upload any pictures with the WordPress app? Either taken with the camera at the time of post or from shots taken and stored on the phone?

Tom:
Yeah man. But you cannot place them in the post manually. The get dumped onto the end after the text. Ideal? No. But still useful for liveblogging or in-the-field reporting on breaking events.
Thanks for stoppin by!
