Bing, Microsoft’s new Search Engine has been around for a bit now and I’m simply curious about who’s actually using it?
I’ll tell you… I’ve used it explicitly 3 times (yes, I’ve counted). Any “conversions” from Google? What are your thoughts? Any ministry-specific “pluses” for using it?
And what about that name? One thing’s for sure… it’s got a much prettier homepage than Google.
Josh Wagner says
I've used it, but only to check how my name ranked. It's interesting though, Google pulls up completely different results when I do and do not capitalize my name. Bing was smart enough to pull up the same ones. Point for Bing. Right now I'm still using Google, but more because of momentum than anything. I am thinking of "switching" for a while to see how it feels and works.

cool. same thing. i'm thinking of doing some “testing” with it more.

like you have used it three times… saw no essential advantage. Think the bing logo looks like the old Brunswick Bowling thing. Don't think they can put a dent in Google.
friar_don says
Actually, I get a few people to my site from Bing. I have never looked into it though.

Negative. Microsoft sucks in everything it does!
human3rror says
ouch! tell me how you really feel.
friar_don says
Wrong. Live Writer is awesome. So is Policy Maker, oh, and Windows 7.
stephenbateman says
Windows 7 does look pretty good. Bing? not so much.

I think my Mac is great, but I wish Front Row was more like Media Center. Redmond hit a home run with that program, IMO.
But Bing has not shown to me why I ought to go to it when everything else I do (email, calendar, feed reader) is over at Google.
human3rror says
bleh! 😉
@phillipgibb says
no intention, however could it be useful? Not sure. Although it will get a few goodies coming out of google faster I am sure
andydarnell says
Nope
Jeff says
I like the Bing user interface more than Google's, but I find myself still using Google for almost all of my searches.

Jesus, Apple, Google and Notre Dame football reign supreme.

wait… wah?

The 3-4 times I've tried a Bing search, I've Google'd Bing to get there… I think that pretty much sums it up really.

funniest thing ever…!

The birds eye view in their maps search is pretty useful for places that Google hasn't already done Street-View for…. other than that I'm way to used to Google to switch.
human3rror says
you're website is the best name ever!
also, your “about” link is broken….
David Mikucki says
Thanks.
I'm just starting out with that Blog. Lately I've been spending all my time working on a client's site.
human3rror says
freaking dope. love the name. 😉
joannamuses says
Searching from Australia, I notice it gives a higher proportion of Australian results when searching using the "show all" option than Google does. Eg, Searching for Sociology on Bing i get the wikipedia article followed by sociology departments of local universities for most of the rest of the first page. Search Google and i get an assortment of sociology sites and resources from around the world. This might be okay if you are searching for a topic where most of the content is local, probably not so helpful when you are looking for a topic with international content.
Not really a fan of the name. The front page is pretty but i prefer the simple quick loading google front page
human3rror says
good point here. i wonder if it does give better results depending on location… hmm.
lewies says
I've converted… because I want to support a great friend who works for them. And now that I'm there I'm loving it. Nike vs. Ree vs. Adidas. who cares? yahoo vs. google vs. bing? personal preference again. I like the new pic every day! haha… great advantage? who cares?
In the end I'm still trying to use any of them less and less because they tend to suck me into a time warp and before I know it an hour has passed and I've learned a lot of useless info that will not pay the bills…
human3rror says
wow, very cool! love how you're moved because of a relationship, not just a tool.

I use both Bing and Google search engine and i dont see much difference in their search results. I use google for searching hard to find academic topics and Bing for general search.
John Saddington says
interesting choice.
Joseph Wright says
I use Bing and Google whenever i want to find something on the internet. I think that both search engines are very good. `

it is only a matter of time before Bing Microsoft acquires Yahoo search engine~,’
