Bin The Wires: Visioneer Mobility Wireless Scanner

A wireless scanner is something that I am most definitely in the market for, and so this badboy is certainly of interest!

This beauty is battery powered and can scan a full 300 documents on just one charge! Pretty good going right? Plus, it looks like you could easily slip it in your bag, it’s not too clunky at all.

One downside to that clunky-ness, though, is the fact that it doesn’t have any auto sheet feeder, which, I can imagine would be very frustrating if you have a 50 page report that need scanning, though, would you do that with your portable scanning device? I suppose you would if you wanted something for all your scanning needs that was also portable.

This device seems to have been primarily built to scan to a USB stick or an SD card. I think this is cool, especially if you are wanting to take this everywhere with you and then “scan on the fly” so to speak, then upload your documents at the end of the day. Sort of like having a compact digital camera vs your mac’s iSight (or PC whatever-camera).

One thing that, to me, it seems to be missing is the ability to automatically upload the images to cloud based services such as Evernote and Google Docs. For me, the sheer power of Evernote’s text recognition means that 99% of the things I scan I would want to end up in Evernote. However, this feature is apparently on the way.

If you would like to see a full review of this device then make sure that you check out Mobile Mag’s thoughts.

Do you own anything like this? How do you find it?

Perhaps you don’t own something like this but are in the market. Does this device look like it would suit you? What is it missing that could be improved?
