Over the past week or two, there have been several Christian organizations making headlines in national news. The first was a debate that took place last Tuesday between Ken Ham (Answers in Genesis) and Bill Nye (yes, the Science Guy) on the topic of origins. The second being a Christian university allegedly accused of silencing the voices of sexual assault victims on campus. It’s quite possible you’ve heard of these topics in the past few days, and have had the chance to interact with others over some controversial issues. I know I have! I have one question for you (and myself): Did we do a good job of representing Christ, or did we succumb to the flesh’s desire to put down, intimidate, and respond unkindly? Google Wallet in Your Ministry
It seems to be a trend here at 78p.tv to get churches on board with cutting edge financial options. Recently, TC had a post (ok, maybe it was two) on adopting Bitcoin as a tithing option in your church. He and I both agree that too often churches let new technologies and ideas whizz right by them. Rather than being on the forefront of culture, we tend to lag far behind in the adoption of new things, especially if they take batteries or plug into the wall.
Recently, Google released the Google Wallet card to accompany their Wallet apps, and I think it has a place in our churches right now. Yes! Now! Before I get ahead of myself, what is the Google Wallet Card? Let’s dive in. [Read more…] about Google Wallet in Your Ministry
Porn: Discovering the Real Problem
This is the second article in the series The Fight Against Porn series.
It’s quite possible this is your first time committing to purity. I’ll be the first to say, great job. It’s an overwhelming task to tackle the issue head on, but I want you to know that it’s worth it for you, your family, your spiritual life, and your missional effectiveness. Buzzsprout Review
A few months ago, I was browsing the Church Tech community in search of some good podcasting advice. Missio Dei (MD) has had a YouTube account that was our primary source of content outsourcing, but I had recently realized the glaring problem with this: it’s not very portable. Sure, you can rip the audio from the video and throw it on your phone, but we wanted our content to be more accessible on the go.
I found a thread in the community and was browsing the comments and Buzzsprout came up. I checked out their site, contacted them and they offered a review period for us to try. A huge thanks is in order to Jared, one of the best customer service people out there. Thanks for the review trial and amazing support of your product! So, as we enter the new year, and you start new endeavors, here’s a rundown of Buzzsprout’s service.
