Solve Media are really onto something with this awesomely creative method of advertising. They realized that banner advertising is become less effective, and that captcha input forms are becoming more necessary and so have created an advertising opportunity using captcha codes.
Their website says:
Solve Media’s proprietary TYPE-IN™ is branded CAPTCHA (human authentication), which places relevant brand messages where users are already engaged. TYPE-IN™ ads provide value for Advertisers, Publishers and Consumers:
They have done some awesome studies on their advertising methods which they go into more detail about in their report. The most important and staggering figures though are the following:
“On average, on a relative basis, we found that TYPE-IN™ ads increased brand recall 111% and message recall by a factor of 12 compared to the exact same creatives displayed as non-interactive static advertisments.”
I’d say that is pretty special, and I really think that there is a place for this type of advertising on the internet. It’s so clever because it’s going to be way more effective and it makes use of captchas which, unfortunately, we do have to indeed use on a daily basis.
It’s really easy to either start advertising or publishing with Solve Media through their website, and in fact they claim that publishers can have Solve Media captchas setup on their website within 30mins. Pretty cool!
What is your initial reaction to this kind of advertising? Do you think it’s pretty cool? Do you think that it’s more likely to catch people’s attention? Would you use it on your website?
