I’m not sure why, but this headline didn’t really surprise me.
While I’m an AT&T customer, and a relatively happy one at that, I know of many people who aren’t so happy, particularly because of poor service, and I think this may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for many AT&T customers.
This article quotes the original press release, saying that only the “top five percent” of data users will be affected. Data speeds will be restored at the beginning of the next billing cycle.
How is one to know whether they’re in that customer range, since it’s so small?
AT&T, always pushing the T-Mobile merger, says that nothing short of the new spectrum they’ll gain from the merger will solve the data “problem.”
This new directive will begin on October 1st, so we’ll have to wait until then to see how it may affect their customer base.
What do you think?

didn’t AT&T says 98% of it’s users would never go over the 2gb cap? So the top 5% of users could be people that are using less than 2gb of data!

Yeah, according to their own stats, you’re right!
