It sounds like a contradiction of terms, but when you look closely at the similarities between Sunday Assembly and a Christian church service, you quickly understand that it isn’t.
This SoulPancake video was great. Not only did it introduce me to a culture that I have never experienced, but brought into focus the heart and motivation behind a somewhat maligned group.
There’s a lot to learn from here.

This video in many ways made me sad–but not because atheists are trying to build a community together.
It makes me sad because I wonder how different are churches really are from this experience. I’m a pastor in a small community, and I’ve been wrestling with whether or not we really are a community that’s taking Godly steps communally and individually. Too often I think we convince ourselves that getting together to sing, listen to an inspiring message, and volunteering together to better our community is what it means to be a Christian.
I’m convicted that my church is not creating disciples who are growing in their trust of Christ and in obedience to his Lordship.

The part about coming together with like minded people and ignoring them for an hour……..yikes!!
