Project automation is a serious luxury (once you get the tools configured). Apache Ant is a decent tool with which to start.
Ant is an automated build utility by the Apache Foundation and the guys over at Nettuts have put together a solid beginner’s tutorial for it.
Highly recommended reading especially if you’re working with a team and have no real automated harnesses around your project.
