AMOS Dry Highlighters: Bible Pen Review

AMOS Dry Highlighters: Bible Pen Review

October 15, 2020
by Chris Wilson

One of the great things about a physical Bible is that you can mark it as you like. Many people use highlighters and pens to underline or add notes to important parts of a text, but today I’m looking at a more unusual Bible pen. The Amos Dry Highlighter.

What are dry highlighters?

A dry highlighter has a dry center and so is like a pencil or crayon. You rub the highlighter on to the page and it leaves a layer of covering on top of the paper. Because it is a highlighter, the colors are bright but also let through a lot of what is underneath.

How are dry highlighters different from regular highlighters?

Normal highlighters have a liquid which you place on a page by rubbing the nib across it. This functions the same as most pens but highlighter ink is brighter and doesn’t cover as much as other pen inks do. In fact, you can even buy highlighter ink for fountain pens.

Dry highlighters don’t use an ink, but instead a dry material, hence the name “dry highlighter.” This means they don’t risk the ink leaking through (bleeding) through the paper. This is a particular issue with physical Bible’s as their paper tends to be thinner and let more ink through.

Final Verdict

Using the Amos dry highlighters really surprised me at first. I wasn’t sure what they end result would be like before I used them (part of me expected them to feel and look like a bright pencil). In the end, I thought the result looked just like a regular highlighter but it felt completely different to use.

I’m glad I have a set to replace my drying out ink highlighters. You can pick up a set of the dry highlighters here on Amazon.
