The last few days there has been some interesting news developing on the Android scene.
It seems that Amazon are launching their own Android app store to directly compete with the Google Android Marketplace.
The app developer side of things seems to be very open indeed, with a very open developer portal where people can sign up to submit their games.
However things seem to be a bit more on the down-low on the end-user side of things – although earlier this week someone managed to access the Android app store by visiting amazon.com/apps (which is where the screenshot at the top of this page came from) – however that section of the site no longer appears.
From what this person saw when he accessed the store, some of the pricing seems to be competitive with the Google store so it should be very interesting to see how this pans out.
It always amazes me the direction in which Amazon seems to expand. I think we will continue seeing big things coming from this company.

I got my free angry birds :D, that said the process stinks compared to the android market. You have to “sideload” the alternative market and then each app you download you have to “sideload” it’s not nearly as easy to use as the android marketplace.
