I just found my dream job. Don’t judge me.
Virgin Atlantic is getting in on the wearable sector, and doing it in an ostensibly productive way. At Heathrow Airport, VA, staffers are using a trial combination of Google Glass and Sony Smartwatch 2 to help check in customers, as well as to provide them with useful information.
Before you run out to buy a ticket, make sure you are an “Upper Class” flier; all y’all who fly coach will get (gasp!) regular service.
Air travel remains one of those things that tend to be tolerated at best, so making the check-in process more palatable just makes sense. Assuming this starts to catch on, could we see this in other industries? The hospitality industry could find some innovative ways to use wearable technology, I think, but what about wearable technology and Google Glass in the Church?
What about Church ushers and greeters?
Do yo think wearable technology can be useful in service occupations, or is it just a novelty at this point?
