Interactive child storybooks on the iPad are awesome (Check-out this storybook by a former Pixar creative!).
J Gospel Net is taking a crack at this new interactive technology and turn-out the first creative Bible book app for kids.
Adventure of Moses
The art is nice and the interactivity looks promising.
Honestly, when I first saw it, I thought it would be lame. After watching the promotional video and seeing the passion behind this project (currently on KickStarter), this could evolve into a series of epic, flannel-graphic proportions.

So much passion, I love it!
Forget about all the attention span spin, iPad technology would be great in a Sunday School room, wouldn’t it?
I also love how they are building this with more than one language (English & Chinese). Imagine if this was tethered with the many languages offered with YouVersion?
Here are some of the app features:
- Every part of the production involved meticulous research under Reverend Hom’s support, allowing biblical and historical accuracy for proper spiritual guidance. This production is also compatible with the Jewish faith.
- Characters and environments painstakingly animated to an extreme level of detail make it interesting for everyone
- Interactive elements let you control the pace of the story
- Fully voiced characters and narration (which can be turned off if you or your child want to read aloud)
- Various mini-games incorporated into the story, such as “Spot the Difference” and “Push the Locusts”
- A Bible trivia mode, useful for home teaching or Sunday schools wishing to show their students how important and fun it is to read the Bible.
- Mandarin Chinese/English language switching is streamlined and easy, making it a useful tool for learning Chinese or English.
I hope J Gospel Net can reach their goal, but at this point, this KickStarter project isn’t fairing well.
Interactive Bible story apps, or even interactive storybooks with a Biblical worldview, seems like a great area of development for the Church.
