Everyone has a brand of some sort, whether you are starting up your own Internet company and looking to make a name for yourself, part of an established ministry or church and wanting to maintain or transform into something else, or an individual with no intent of “selling anything” but just being yourself, we all have brands. But to create a great brand online, you need to know how to set up social media and websites well to convey your brand and interact with friends and customers properly.
Here are some ideas on how to do that well and some facts you need to focus on:
- 80% of people prefer giveaways of some sort from brands on social media.
- The number of Internet users that have social media accounts is crazy: 85% for Facebook and 49% for Twitter.
- A social media account is not enough of a reason for not having a business.
What do you want to see in organizations online that many are not doing well?

Hi Jeremy :-).
Would be nice to relate this to the non-profit space somehow. It’s interesting, to be sure. But that only goes so far.

Chris,
I think that for many larger non-profit organizations, this is the starting point. Working exclusively as the social media specialist for Youth for Christ/USA, I know that having these facts help to push the different strategies that I find need to be done.
