The Acer Aspire R7 looks like someone had some Photoshop fun or the designers worked in a room full of mirrors.
As awkward as it may look, take a look at why the track pad has been reversed with the keyboard:

Interesting concept, right?
There are a couple things I don’t like about the design:
- It’s going to break.
- What’s the point of touchpad, again? Why is it still there if you don’t need it?
I do, however, think the idea of using a touchscreen in a full OS is an interesting idea. Although, I’m suck a stickler for a clean screen, I don’t know if I could stand it!
I’m anxious to see if Apple pursues this concept in the future and what their take on the design would be. For the most part, I’ve been very impressed with how sturdy Apple hardware is.
Is the idea of combining tablets and laptops a failure in the direction of the netbook?
Good? Bad? Ugly?
Let’s hear it!

I thought Apple already had this. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Logitech+-+Keyboard+Folio+Case+for+Apple%26%23174%3B+iPad%26%23174%3B+2%2C+iPad+3rd+Generation+and+iPad+with+Retina+-+Electric+Blue/8801312.p?id=1218941183062&skuId=8801312

Not exactly. This Acer is a full powered PC, not a tablet.

Generally, products that try to be all things to all people fail because they do no one-thing really well. I see this falling into that category. It’s built to support Windows 8 and its tablet design bias more than fill a true user need.

Well said!

so the space where the track pad is and the rest to the right and left of it are essentially gone. I think this would be horrible to type on since things won’t sit as nice and your elbows will inherently be off the laptops bottom area. Maybe good long term (skin wear and wrist oils on my macbook pro have show incredible wear on the left and right of the trackpad). Who knows, maybe just needs a different desk type layout to work right. I really don’t like the gorilla arm syndrome which I think is what people will get from long term usage of this. And the flipping around isn’t very good for long meetings where you will be working, flipping to show someone and then flipping back and forth. I have used iPads for meetings and they seem to suffice, or a nice HDTV on the wall for showing sites to clients.

That’s what I’M thinkin’!

I love the idea about this…being able to have a touch screen and have it swivel is nice. But I too think my elbows and wrists would have nowhere to rest…I just tried it right now and I think I’d need one of those old keyboard wrist pillows…so I wouldn’t have to hold my wrists up!
Eric Dye says
Not to mention it looks completely backwards and ugly … 😉
