To start out, “smart” is, for me, a relative term. I think you can be “smarter” than a lot of people depending on the context, environment, and whether or not anyone really cares.
Does that make sense?
And yet, even though it is somewhat relative in nature, I think we all can tell when someone has definitely done something “un-smart.”
The blogging world is just as nuanced and superficial. That’s why we need to do everything we can to be as simple as possible in terms of our efforts online. Being smart about it, regardless of context.
Seth’s thoughts the other day about “Hard to Understand People” gave me a kick to the face and reminded me about how silly it is to make things “hard” for people.
What do we really gain by making things hard for our readers? How do we bridge gaps when we intimidate people to not ask questions?
Feel free to “call me out” if it looks like I’ve made something appear harder than it actually is.
