If you are involved in church technology, you are probably swamped with stuff. In fact, I’m not sure why you are reading this… shouldn’t you be doing more preparation? It is also too late to give you an advice on how to make this Easter a success.
But I do not know if social media before Easter is where you will find success for your ministry. The greatest impact social media could have for your ministry might be after Easter.
Here are five ideas that churches can get a social media win after Easter.
- Have All Leadership Engage Online
Whether you are a church of one staff person or a whole team, church leadership goes beyond those that get a salary. Have the whole church leadership team onboard to engage with everything you post online. That means elders, volunteers, staff, administration, prayer warriors, deacons, small group leaders, and band members. Have them comment and likes on Facebook posts (this increases reach), retweet your church’s account, and repin what you can. - Do A Social Media Video Devotional
This does not have to require a lot of work, but could be as simple and yet powerful as a Scripture reading, a challenging word, or a prayer for your community. Capture it on video with your authenticity and genuineness as a conversation starter for your congregation. - Grab Stories In The Forty Days
Jesus died and then rose again after three days, but then He wandered around after His resurrection for 40 days before His ascension. Why not push 40 days of stories from people? Was your sermon on the King of Kings who has given His life for ours? Ask once a day for people to share their stories and feature a story of a congregation member who met Jesus. Use social media as the place to bring the story of Jesus through our own stories to the world. - Use An After Easter Hashtag
Let your sermon from Easter and your ascension sermon not be two separate days. Instead, push for the conversation to continue with an after Easter hashtag. The previous four ideas are how to make your church great, but the resurrection and ascension of Jesus is more than just about one congregation, but instead the whole Church. Why not spend the next 40 days and retweet, reshare, like, comment, and impact other ministries in your area. Don’t write a blog post about it or let others know why you are doing it, that makes your rewards here on Earth. Instead, serve the whole body of Christ and lift others up with encouragement, prayer, and support.
What is your church doing after Easter with church technology and more specifically social media?
