When Grant was about one month old, we bought an XBox 360 with the Kinect. Jeremy was of course super excited about this purchase. I really did not have feelings about it one way or the other. Video games entertain me for about five minutes and then I am bored, with the exceptions of Mario Kart and Mario Brothers on Nintendo 64. When we got the XBox home and set up I was surprised to find out it had some impressive features that are beneficial to have with an infant!
A mom’s top three reasons why the XBox 360 with Kinect is useful:
- Voice command As stated last week, Jeremy and I no longer have cable. Now that we have the XBox, we watch Hulu Plus or Netflix through XBox Live online. When watching a show and feeding Grant a bottle, I can be hands free with the Kinect’s voice commands to run Netflix or Hulu Plus. The XBox 360 can be controlled by voice to do just about anything you need it to: stop, play, go to the next episode and so on.
- Not just a gaming system If you are not into video games like me, the XBox 360 has a ton of other things you can do to pass the time while your kiddo is sleeping and the laundry is still running in the dryer. Aside from catching up on your favorite T.V. shows through XBox Live, you can search the web through Bing, watch clips on YouTube, check out movie trailers, and even preview up and coming video games.
- Easy to operate I appreciate the organized layout and how easy the controller is to use. My Mom and Grandma even had it figured out in just a few days! I am sure that if Grant is anything like his father, he will be teaching me new things on the XBox 360 in no time.
If you are in the market for a new gaming system I would recommend the XBox 360 to gamers and non-gamers alike as well as all you new parents out there!
